In case you encountered flat tire in your car follow this simple tips on how to change flat tire.

1) Safely move your car off the road and away from traffic.

2) Park on the level ground and switch on the hazard light flasher. Do not attempt to change flat tire in a slope area or in ice or a slippery area.

3) Apply the parking brake and turn off the engine. Set the gear lever in reverse position for manual transmission, however for automatic transmission set the gear lever to a park position.

4) Open the hood of your car so that it can easily be notice and warn other motorist that you need assistance. If you have passengers in your car, instruct them to get outside your car and stand on safe area away from traffic or away from your car.

5)Get the tools and the spare tire, if you cannot locate the tools checks your car owner’s manual for the location of the tools compartment.

6)Place the jack directly underneath your car, you can find the jack up points as illustrated on your car owner’s manual or the label adhered on the car jack. However the jack up points is usually located a few inches away behind your car front tires and a few inches away in front of your rear tires.

7) Loosen the wheel nut by one or two turns counter clockwise with the use of tire wrench. Important!!! Do not remove the wheel nut until the tire is off the ground.

8) Raised the jack until the tire is off the ground then remove the wheel nut, if your car is equipped with hub cap remove it.

9) Once the entire wheel nut was uninstalled, remove the tire by positioning your hand on the 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock position and pull the tire towards you, be careful when pulling a heavy tire.

10) Clean the surface between the wheel and the hub for mud and dirt. Carefully install the spare tire, align the hole of the wheel with the stud bolts of the car wheel disc and slide tire onto the bolts until the surface of the wheel touches the hub.

11) Install the wheel nut. Tighten the nuts using your hand. After the entire wheel nut was installed tighten the nuts using the tire wrench alternately as shown in the picture, just enough until the wheel starts to rotate.

12) Lower your car slowly until the tire touches the grounds and tightens again the wheel nut in the sequence as illustrated above. Ensure to tighten the nuts securely.

13) Lower your car completely down and remove the jack. Return the tools in the tool compartment then you are set to go.

Installing the spare tire is easy but if you do not do it right it can affect your safety, however it can be avoided if you know the procedure of how to change flat tire.
