Labels:

Tires runflat is a condition of car tires that has been run “flat”, with little or no inflation at all. When tires run flat the car is rolling on tire sidewalls while the car is in operation, at this conditions the tire sidewall will eventually damaged which causes tread or sidewall separations. Tread or sidewall separations occur due to the heat generated by the rubbing action, as well as the load transfer from the rim to the tire.

Tires have been runflat if the lettering on the tire sidewall area has been partially or totally erase and show a rubbed portion on the upper sidewall which means that the rim has been rolling within tire sidewall.

What causes tires runflat?

The loss of inflation is the basic cause of tires runflat, to which is contributed by a lot of factors such as air leak due to faulty tire valve or rim, puncture hole, sidewall or tread cuts, and damaged due to heavy impact.

If your car tires runflat, we recommend replacing it at once because the tire ply chords that affect the ability of the tire to support pressure has been already damage by the rim when it runs on the tire sidewall. Having your car use a tire that has been runflat compromises your safety on the road.

However, regular monitoring of the tire inflation pressure as well as stopping your car immediately at the side road when you detect that you have a flat tire is one way of preventing your tires runflat.
