Learn the Best Time to Check Tire Pressure

Every car has its own tire pressure standard indicated on the label adhere on the driver door side and is called tire placard limit, you can also found the recommended tire pressure applicable to your car model on the car owner’s manual.
When is the correct time to check the tire inflation pressure? Since the tire inflation pressure indicated on the label is the cold inflation pressure, checking the tire inflation pressure must be done first thing in the morning while the ambient temperature is not that high and the tire is not yet been used to warm it up.
Temperature variations affects tire inflation pressure, adjustments on the tire inflation pressure must be done depending on the difference between indoor and outdoor temperature.
When the difference between indoor and outdoor ambient temperature is 10 degrees Fahrenheit, the recommended inflation pressure must be increase by 1 psi when inflating the tires.
When the car is parked on the shade for about an hour during afternoon, increase the tire inflation pressure to 2 psi beyond the recommended cold inflation pressure.
When your car is being driven not exceeding 45 mph, increase 4 psi beyond the recommended cold inflation pressure. However if it exceed 45 mph, 6 psi increase is necessary.
If for instance, you measured the tire pressure exceed the recommended cold inflation pressure by the above increase of pressure, when tire is hot. Don not release any air, as long as it does not exceed the inflation pressure variations the tire is capable to handle such increase.
